Gastronomy

The traditional cuisine of the mountain regions in the north of the country attracts cheese lovers in particular. Orava cheese dumplings are a real specialty, but N. 1 of gastro-folklore are bryndza dumplings, served in many restaurants across the country. In the south, lovers of spicy food will be in for a treat. Cabbage specialties, goose and sweet trdelnik are characteristic of the West. There are six wine-growing regions in Slovakia. Tokaj is the smallest wine-growing paradise in the world. Local wines can be tasted during autumn vintages and on wine tours. Enjoy coffee in Slovakia in stylish cafes of Bratislava’s Old Town or in the 2634 m above sea level café on Lomnické štít in the High Tatras.
