Ann’s Peat Spa is named in honour of a Prussian princess who experimented with the beneficial effects of the local peat.
The spa, located in Bělohrad claims another
Czech first – it has gained a EUROPESPAmed certificate from the European Spas Association for meeting international standards of quality. The Prussian countess, Anna of Asseburg helped found the spa here in 1885. Treatment is provided for diseases of the locomotor system, neurological, gynaecological illnesses and skin diseases.
Points of interest
The town of Lázně Bělohrad lies in the wide basin of the Javorka Stream, surrounded by woody peaks. The beautiful Bažantnice Park is a unique example of the most varied vegetation, its peat lake having been one of the reasons for the founding of the spa here. It is also worth visiting the Baroque chateau dating back to the 18th century, which was built by the Czech architect of Italian origin, Jan Blažej Santini Aichel, who became famous for construction of the Chapel of St. John of Nepomuk on Zelená Hora in Žďár nad Sázavou, which is listed as a UNESCO monument.
