The traditional Christmas Eve Dinner is an integral part of a Czech Christmas – fish soup and fried carp with potato salad. Christmas biscuits are also typical, with vanilla crescents or Christmas sweetbread with raisins and almonds, playing a starring role. The sweetbread, plaited from four, three and two “strands” of leavened dough, resembles a newborn baby in swaddling clothes. People also bake during the Easter holidays in the Czech Republic. During these Christian festivities, you can try pound cake shaped like a lamb. Sweet cross-buns or Easter cakes are also prepared.
