Telč has been dubbed the ‘
Venice of Moravia’ for its picturesque appearance. It charms visitors with its preserved historical centre, above all the main square, which is triangular in shape and lined with burgher houses with Renaissance facades and arcades.
The original royal moated fort dating back to the 13
th century has been preserved to this very day as has the extensive
Renaissance chateau complex with valuable furniture and rich collections. The historical centre of the town and the Renaissance chateau were added to the UNESCO World Heritage list in 1992.
