Best of Budapest 2016: From July to December
Events calendar of Budapest is absolutely full of exciting programmes throughout the year: no wonder the Hungarian Capital is the City of Festivals! In the second part of our list, we collected the most remarkable festivals in the second half of 2016!

Red Bull Air Race, 16-17 July
This year Budapest will be again part of the Red Bull Air Race calendar, the iconic Chain Bridge featuring the event! As the city is one of the most beautiful capitals of the world, no wonder that the raqce track above the Danube, between Elizabeth and Margaret Bridges, in downtown Budapest is also a real spectacle!

The race of the pilots is always spot by a huge crowd, and this year won't be an exception.

Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix, 22-24 July, Hungaroring
Hungaroring, just outside Budapest, from 1986 hosts one of the biggest events of motorsport in the world. Roaring of engines, enthusiastic crowd and the inevitable shower of champagne for the winner: experience the unmistakable Formula 1 feeling in the summer in Hungary! Qualifying races, the main race and also pit walks can be experienced in the middle of July 2016.

Sziget Festival 2016, 10-17 August
Looking for a place to feel free? A place where music comes from multiple stages? A place where fun is much more then you expect? These mottos all fit perfect to Sziget Festival of Budapest! Held at Óbuda Hajógyári Sziget in the Northern part of Budapest, and voted to be The Best European Major Festival title at the European Festival Awards in January 2012, Sziget offers a really unique spectrum of music & other cultural events.

Festival of Folk Arts (Mesterségek Ünnepe), 18-21 August
Weaving, beading, woodcarving or making kürtőskalács (chimney cake): these traditional crafts can all be witnessed in August in Buda Castle, where a traditional fair showcases the best examples and most experienced representatives of living folk arts and traditions of Hungary. Their products can be witnessed and brought, and the event will also offer a wide selection of various programmes. If you are fond of folk art and traditional crafts, don't miss this occasiont! Jewish Cultural Festival, August, date to be announced
Since 1997, Jewish Culture in Hungary is highlighted by the event, former Jewish Summer Festival. Organised by Jewish Tourism and Cultural Centre (ZSIKK), programmes, including concerts, exhibitions, and film screenings are held at 3 main venues: Dohány Street Synagogue, Goldmark Hall and Rumbach Synagogue. Budapest Wine Festival, 8-11 September
The spectacular location of Buda Castle will host the biggest wine festival of Hungary, where hundreds of winemakers have the chance to introduce themselves and their products to the public. Besides tasting excellent wines we can also enjoy culinary adventures, and also a wide selection of programmes like concerts.

National Gallop Budapest, September, date to be announced
An exciting horse race in the very heart of Budapest? The horse-racing track at Heroes Square with it's absolutely unique surroundings gives an extraordinary experience. Horses are entered the race by Hungarian settlements, and the country's various regions, towns and villages, their traditions and gastronomy present themselves on the event.

Cultural Heritage Days, 17-18 September
Free guided tours offer en excellent possibility to explore gems of cultural heritage of the Hungarian capital. From former palaces of the aristocracy to public institutions, a great selection of venues open their doors, some of them are otherwise closed to the public. The series of tours is part of European Heritage Days. Programme is coming soon.
Pálinka and Sausage Festival, October, date to be announced
Oroszlános Udvar (Lion Court) of Buda Castle will host this fiesta of pálinka and kolbász (sausage). Sausages, other artisan meet specialities, pálinka and many other gastro delicacies will be offered in this historic setting, and to keep the mood up, concerts will be also performed. Programme coming soon.

CAFe Budapest Contemporary Arts Festival, October, date to be announced
Former Budapest Autumn Festival is a major contemporary art festival with more than 100 planned events at 40 venues. 2016 event will focus on Béla Bartók, the famous Hungarian composer. The event will also offer programmes of new-wave circus to contemporary design, from opera to electric music, from fashion to children's show.

Cinemas, cafés, open-air venues join the series of events, thus creating one of the biggest contemporary art festivals. Programme coming soon.
