Bohemian Paradise is so far the only geopark in the Czech Republic to be ranked in the prestigious UNESCO network, which includes important parks across Europe or China. It lies just under 50km northeast of Prague and is unique for its sandstone rocks and rock formations, which are nicknamed rock cities.
When walking through the landscape of the Bohemian Paradise, it is possible to take part in several different activities over the course of just one day; pass through the breakneck lanes of a rock city, indulge yourself in a view over the landscape and visit one of the castles and chateaux (e.g. the romantic Sychrov Chateau or the ruins of Trosky Castle). Those interested in adrenaline sports can put their powers to the test climbing or paragliding.
Points of interest
Do you know why this romantic region is called the Bohemian Paradise? It started to be called this as far back as the 19th century by the guests of the Sedmihorka Spa here, because the diversity of natural beauties is combined here with a wealth of historical monuments – castles, chateaux and also folk architecture.
