The pride of the Slovak sacral buildings are ten churches successively declared minor basilicas.
  • The Basilica of Our Lady of Seven Sorrows, Šaštín - the Baroque church from 1733, the national pilgrimage site.
  • Cathedral of St. Emeram, Nitra - built on the foundations of the first documented church within our territory. The present-day church has three parts: Romanesque, Gothic and Baroque.
  • Church of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary on the Marian Hill in Levoča - a neo-Gothic church built on the location of an ancient chapel, the place where believers gather around the Mother of God all year long, especially on the Feast of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
  • Church of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Staré Hory - the main altar of the Gothic church from the 15th century holds a gracious statue of the Virgin Mary. Her head is adorned with a gilded crown.
  • Church of the Birth of the Blassed Virgin Mary, Rajecká Lesná - the church is situated on the foundations of a church from 1400. The place has been a sought-after Marian pilgrimage because of the gracious statue of the Virgin Mary since the beginning of the 17th century. Since 1995, the pilgrimage site has featured a rare Slovak Bethlehem, which except for the Nativity scene depicts different parts of Slovakia.
