Czech Cuisine
An old Czech saying goes: “Tell me what you eat, and I will tell you what you are like”. According to this saying, every national cuisine is something special and specific that reflects the nature of its country. The Czech Republic has always lain in the heart of Europe, at the crossroads of trade routes. Which is why the best of Central European cuisine is mixed into it.

The staples of Czech cuisine are high quality domestic raw materials – above all grain, pulses, potatoes and meat. These seemingly simple ingredients have given birth to superb and creative dishes that you’ll only find in Czech cuisine. This includes Czech dumplings, a wide range of sauces and soups, sirloin steak with a creamy sauce or pork, dumplings and sauerkraut.

Czech cuisine was influenced in the past by the food of neighbouring countries, including Hungary, Austria and Germany. Its current form offers healthy and original meals cooked in many different ways, and that look to old Bohemian recipes for inspiration.

You can take inspiration from Czech gastronomy yourself on the Czech Specials website, which introduces you not only to Czech national and regional specialties, but specific recipes and instructions on how to prepare dishes, delicacies from the kitchens of head chefs and tips on which restaurants offer traditional and modern Czech cuisine.
