Lake Balaton has earned the nickname, ‘The Hungarian Sea’, on account of its 77kms of silky green-yellow water in the middle of Transdanubia. The lake is one of the country’s most precious treasures and also the most frequented resorts of Hungary.

With a surface of approximately 600km², it is the largest lake in Central Europe. The length of its shores is 195km, the width is 14km at its widest, and its greatest depth is 12.4m. The southern shores are ideal for small children because of the shallow water, but many beaches have been developed also on the north shore, where the water gets deeper immediately. The summer temperature of the water is between 20-26 °C, and it is warmer than the air in the morning and in the evening. The water and the silky mud of the lake are very good medicines against nervous complaints, anemia and nervous fatigue. A large number of resorts on the shores of Lake Balaton welcome guests from home and abroad.

Recover and relax
Float like a water lily. The healing qualities of the thermal water at Hévíz has been known since Roman times. Its water as well as the unique Hévíz mud are suitable for treating rheumatic and locomotors diseases. Enjoy the outdoor and indoor pools, or visit the wide varieties of services. Besides the thermal lake, in Hévíz and all around, you can find plenty of hotels serving your recreation. Stress dissolves in water!
