From monasteries to castles, tourist centers to fluorescent bike lane, outdoor activities to national memorial sites: this year abounded in new developments in Hungary, so we selected those which can be the most exciting destinations for tourists. All of them are worth visiting in 2016!
1. Countrywide Blue Tour (Kéktúra)

The Countrywide Blue Tour, a 2500 kms long trekking path, on which Hungary can be explored all around, awaits all of those fond of nature and outdoor activities with renovated signs, resting places and tourist houses. The environment of springs were also renovated, new bridges were built, new sings were put on trees and posts, and many new info boards were also erected. Even new sections of bike lanes were created.
2. Lookout in the tower of Mathias Church
In October the lower part of the bell tower was opened for the public. You can reach the 47 m high lookout by climbing 197 steps!
3. Zselic Star Park

Explore Milky Way from a new dimension! With a new visitor center, lookout and dome telescope, this building, situated in a wonderful environment, is worth a visit!
4. Castles

Andrássy Castle at Tiszadob was just opened in December. And not this historic building is the only one, which was refurbished this year: Esterházy Castle at Pápa was transformed to a Living Castle, with exhibitions and film screenings, which give us an insight into the life of the noble families. Edelény Castle and it's park also have new exhibitions.
5. Camaldulian Monastery at Majk

The representative court was refurbished and a new exhibition was opened, telling us more about the history of the monastery in the 18th century, the everyday life of the monks, and their relationship with Prince Ferenc Rákóczi.
6. Beer Brewery at Zirc Abbey
Beer brewing traditions of Cistercians have come to life again at the Abbey, where 4 types of pure beer are manufactured.
7. New developments at Hortobágy
A whole series of developments were finished at Hortobágy: Mátai Stud Farm buildings and Coach Museum were renovated, Puszta Animal Park was transformed into a child friendly institution and here also a new playground was added, and even a new sport facility, observatory and bird watching facility were built.
8. Tapolca Lake-Cave Visitor Center

New visitor center of Tapolca Lake-Cave, connected to underground canals was one of the most exciting novelties of January 2015. It helps us to explore stones, archeological findings and even the life of bats!
9. Eger Castle and the fluorescent bike path

Eger Castle was declared to be a National Memorial Site, and at the same time the walking lane, the dungeon and the bastion were all renovated. Besides these, we can find many other exciting novelties in the town of Eger. One of them is the addition of the bike path towards Bükk, on which – for the first time in Hungary – a flourescent sign divides the two parts, helping orientation at night.
10. Contemporary Tourist Center and Lookout at Galyatető

Old lookout at Galyatető was completely transformed, and became a real contemporary landmark! We can find accomodation in the building, where round windows and doors, and exposed concrete walls create a really unique atmosphere, while the roof terrace offers a 360 degree view.
11. Bike path around Fertő Lake
For the first time, this year we can make a whole circle around the lake by bike. Offering many experiences in culture, gastronomy and the beauties of nature, it is worth exploring!
