Great ideas for the perfect honeymoon in Budapest
Budapest was chosen recently the 7th most romantic city in the world - so the Hungarian capital is absolutely a perfect choice for the perfect honeymoon! Here is a great list of some must-visit spots for romancing, and also our suggestions for hotels to spend an unforgettable honeymoon.
Must-visit spots

Fisherman's Bastion and Castle of Buda
One of the most iconic and definitely the most photographed spots of Budapest, Fisherman's Bastion is a must-visit place to make the perfect photograph in a romantic, historic setting. With full panorama of Budapest, including beautiful Parliament building, Margaret Bridge and Margaret Island in the background, it looks like a fairy-tale castle. Nearby Matthias Church is a beautiful gothic-style building, with lace-like stone elements. Take a walk in the Castle district, between romantic, small houses from the Middle Ages and narrow, winding streets with cobble stones!

City Park and Vajdahunyad Castle
Our other favourite downtown castle is also not really a castle. Vajdahunyad Castle in the beautiful City Park certainly looks the part, with towers and high walls, a bridge, moat and Gothic gatehouse leading into a courtyard. However your main clue is in that courtyard –where the buildings on one side are in a different style, indeed they seems to be from a different age to those on the other, or indeed behind you. The Baroque Hall purposefully clashes with the Romanesque recreation of the great church at Ják. It was originally constructed in wood and plasterboard in 1896, as an architecture display for the Hungary's millennium exposition. Later is became so popular that it was expanded and rebuilt in stone, so that you would never know. Well almost…

Boat Lake of the City Park

City Park of Budapest, a 302 acres park in the center of the Hungarian capital, once was the main venue of the 1896 millennium celebrations of Hungary. Being not only a wonderful green area with centruy old trees, flowerbeds and a boat lake, but also many attractions as Budapet Zoo, Szécheny Baths or Gundel Restaurant can be found here.

If you wish to relax in a wonderful bathhouse resembling a castle and feel like an aristocrat, Széchenyi Baths, located in the City Park, not far from Vajdahunyad Castle is your perfect choice! Today you can choose from not less than 21 pools, including some really extraordinary ones like a bubble bath; more saunas, steam cabins, massage and many other pampering services. The largest bath complex of Europe was built in the beginning of the 20th century, and you can not only enjoy here pleasant warm thermal water, but beautiful architecture indoors and outdoors too.

Music Fountain at Margaret Island

Dunakorzó (Danube banks) and Margaret Island
Ideal location for long, romantic walks is the Pest-side bank of the Danube, Dunakorzó in Hungarian. Lined with beautiful buidlings, hotels, restaurants and cafés, both great architecture and wonderful panorama are inviting us to stroll here. We can cross the Danube River on Chain Bridge (Lánchíd) to Buda, or on Margaret Bridge, reaching via the latter Margaret Island, a beautiful city park in the heart of Budapest. Cafés and restaurants are in abundance in Dunakorzó area, so if we wish to have a rest and enjoy sights of the city, there is an almost endless selection. We can also make a ship excursion from here on the Danube River.
